Intergovernmental Affairs

The Secrétariat aux affaires intergouvernementales canadiennes (SAIC) ensures the defence and promotion of Québec's interests in the context of its relations with Canada.

The Secrétariat fulfils this mandate by:

• being active on the Canadian intergovernmental scene: see Intergovernmental Relations;
• ensuring that Québec’s constitutional jurisdictions and the integrity of its institutions are respected: see Institutions and Constitution;
• acting as the Government of Québec’s memory regarding intergovernmental issues and on federalism:
  • Past Positions,
  • Canadian Federalism;
• participating in the elaboration and implementation of federal policies and programs in Canada that have an impact on Québec’s development: see Intergovernmental Agreements;
• supporting the development and dissemination of knowledge that contributes to a better understanding of Québec: see Research Support Program on Intergovernmental Affairs and Québec Identity (PSRAIIQ).
